End Tables at FurnishMyHome.ca
What is the difference between an end and side table?
End Table – Is a table that is placed at the “end” of a piece of furniture. A great example would be, you might place an end table at the end of your sofa between it and a wall. End tables are typically smaller than side tables (approx.12″ – 18″ diameter/square) and can often fit into tight spaces.
Side Table – Side tables, on the other hand, are tables that are placed beside another piece of furniture (most commonly a chair or sofa). They can be up against a wall or out in the open. One notable difference is that side tables typically have a larger surface area (approx. 18″ to 26″ diameter/square) and tend to have a stronger element of style. They are usually more visible in a space and enhance the overall design of a room.
Do end and side tables need to match?
It’s okay to select matching end and side tables, but it makes for a more interesting space if you choose coordinating tables instead. As long as the sizes and styles relate to each other with at least one common element, it’s perfectly acceptable to have different tables.
How tall should end tables be?
End tables should be within two inches of a sofa’s arm height. For example, if the sofa’s arm is 22″ tall, a proper end table can be anywhere from 20″ – 24″ tall. Can’t find the right table height for your room? Go shorter rather than taller for a more comfortable experience.
